YOUR NEW PUP

You just got your new best friend home, now what?

From the first day home, to the day to day care here's some important info about  your pup.

Your Pups First Days Home

  • Your Pup will be ready to go home from 8 weeks and up. All of our pups have had their first set of puppy vaccines and been full checked out by our vet.

  • Older pups will continue to receive age appropriate puppy vaccinations until they go to new homes or are fully vaccinated.

  • Once home we require an establishing vet appointment within 5 weekdays of getting your pup.

  • Until your pup is fully vaccinated they are very susceptible to parvo. Pups should not be put down in public spaces.

  • As pups are not vaccinated until 8 week they are not fully potty trained when they go home. Pups are used to using puppy pads and can begin training at their new home in an enclosed yard.

  • It can take several days to weeks for your new pup to adjust during this time it is important to make sure they are eating and drinking enough as well as have a safe place they can be put when they are not actively with you.

Vet Info

The health and wellness of our pups is our top priority we work closely with our local vet to make sure our pups and parents are the healthiest they can be. Below you will find both our vet info and some veterinary care info.

Our Vet:  Dr. Mark Broyles at Beartooth Veterinary Services  Laurel, MT

General Veterinary Care:

Your pup has been dewormed prior to going to their new home speak with your vet to establish a deworming schedule.

We do not advise giving your pup the Lepto Vaccine. Lepto vaccines tends to have more adverse reactions including seizures and even death. Giving you pup this vaccine will void all health guarantees on your pup.

Trachea collapse is more common in small dogs when not properly cared for. We suggest using a harness to walk your dog this helps prevent collapse.

Food Facts

While your puppy is little we suggest either free feeding or 3-4 meals per day. Once your pup is full grown at about 6 months you can switch to feeding 1 or 2 times a day.

Our pups come home with the food they are used to eating to transfer them to a new food mix half of their old with half new until you are out of old food.

We feed a mix to our parents dogs and pups and highly recommend a grain free diet for your pups.

Treats are a great tool we give plenty of high protein meat based treats as well as the occasional dental treat.

Always be sure to leave our fresh clean water for your pups.
